zimfest

For Zimbabweans and friends of Zimbabwe Zimfest has become a fixture on their summer calendar. Held in South West London in the UK the event regularly attracts thousands of people to share in the unique culture and spirit of Zimbabwe. What most people do not realise is that Zimfest is the fist and longest standing WEZIMBABWE Programme.

Zimfest was started as a fundraiser back in 2000 and on the surface this is all that it was. There is and always has been an underlying dynamic about Zimfest that has defined it as a programme.

Zimfest is our single concerted effort to bring our country and our people together across racial, tribal, gender, religious and every other line that we have allowed ourselves to be divided by. From day one we have insisted that Zimfest be a celebration and not a lament because we believe as Zimbabweans we have much to celebrate.

We could go all out to monetise Zimfest but this is not the reason that we have persisted with it for 10 years now and why we will continue to persist with this project. We use Zimfest to try to show the world the best of Zimbabwe. The Things that are not often reported. That we can embrace each other and that as much as we are different we are the same.

We are now working hard to spread Zimfest globally to allow Zimbabweans and our friends wherever they are to contribute to this small effort to contribute to building the nation. This is based on the idea that we can still be part of the nation regardless of where we are located in the world.

We will also be working hard to improve Zimfest as a platform for people to showcase their business or any other project that they are involved in that in some way integrates with Zimbabwe. We are looking forward to Zimfest becoming the global platform that Zimbabwe needs to help us on the road to recovery as a nation.
