wezim trust

The WEZIMBABWE Trust was set up to manage the support that WEZIMBABWE gives to projects. Projects are selected based on their individual merit and once this is done we structure our support for them based on our assessment of how much support is required, how long it is required for and how much of this support can be provided by WEZIMBABWE.

The support we provide is divided into two categories. These are projects we provide one off grants to and projects we commit long term support to in grants provided based on agreed time frames. We currently have two projects that we have agreed to provide long term support to.

CWL Ingutsheni Supplementary Feeding project

WEZIMBABWE has agreed to fund the Catholic Women’s League based at Christ the King parish in Bulawayo to assist them in providing supplementary food for the patients at Ingutsheni Mental Illness facility in Famona. This is a project that was started by the ladies at the CWL to help the facility meet its nutritional requirements. The project consists of a volunteer team preparing meals for the patients on Tuesdays and going to the facility to help serve the meals. WEZIMBABWE funds this project through an annual Grant of £1000 paid in quarterly instalments of £250.

Masiyabonge Trust

The Masiyabonge Trust was set up in Bulawayo to provide alternative educational support in Barham Green in Bulawayo. The Project is in its infancy and the programme is still developing. Despite this the project has already begun operating and WEZIMBABWE has provided funding for 2 young girls to join the programme. The principle focus of the project is to identify children that have fallen behind in respect of their educational development and provides the opportunity to bring them up to level of children in their age group and to a point where they can be re-integrated into formal education. We are also assisting the trust with development of their structure, identity and online presence to help ensure that they get the help and support they need to grow.

We have also provided support to the following organisations in the form of one off grants in the recent past.

Count on Us

WEZIMBABWE partnered with Count on us which is a UK based Zimbabwean Charity to help fund their education project in Zimbabwe. Count on Us operates a simple scholarship programme that identifies children requiring financial assistance for their education and funds this on an annual basis with the requirement being assessed every year. The best part about this programme is that the arrangement was based on Count on us providing members of their UK team to help run Zimfest 2009 in London and it is hoped that this will develop into an ongoing arrangement.

Art From The Heart – Kuyamura Trust Tichakunda Project

Working with Shaye Boddington from Art from the Heart We provided funding for the Kuyamura Trust at their Tichakunda Pre-School project in Hatcliffe outside of Harare. the project intends to build a preschool for 600 Children currently being accomodated in timber sheds for their pre-school education. We were introduced to this project in 2009 and after visiting agreed to provide a grant of USD 2000 to help with the day to day upkeep of the children at the school.
